TANK, April 27: Deputy Commissioner Tanveer Ahmad Khattak has reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to addressing long-standing civic challenges in Tank, announcing a series of urgent measures aimed at improving sanitation, water supply and urban infrastructure.
The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation of the Action Committee, led by Chairman Pir Saleem Shah, at the DC office on Monday. The delegation presented a range of public concerns, highlighting poor sanitation in residential areas, clogged drainage systems, shortage of clean drinking water, unannounced electricity outages and the lack of basic civic facilities.
Responding to the issues, Khattak said all available resources were being mobilised to resolve key municipal problems on a priority basis. He announced the launch of an emergency cleanliness drive across the city to improve hygiene conditions.
“A dedicated monitoring system is being introduced to ensure better sanitation, while strict checks will be carried out on the attendance and performance of sanitation staff,” he said.
The deputy commissioner also revealed that development schemes worth Rs60 million are currently underway, focusing on the construction of new streets as well as beautification initiatives, including painting and maintenance work in urban areas.
Addressing water shortages, Khattak said efforts were in progress to ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water, adding that faulty water supply schemes were being repaired and restored.
He further directed the relevant authorities to immediately clear blocked drains and improve drainage infrastructure to prevent waterlogging, particularly in densely populated localities.
Emphasising citizen engagement, the DC noted that the public complaint redressal system was being strengthened to ensure timely and effective resolution of grievances.
Reiterating his resolve, Khattak said the district administration was determined to deliver visible improvements in public services and provide relief to residents without delay.
