Educational institutions across Punjab reopened on Monday after a nearly three-month summer break, bringing students back to classrooms and increasing traffic on major roads and school routes across Lahore and other cities.
Government and private schools, colleges and other educational institutions resumed regular academic activities after summer holidays that ran from May 22 to August 23. The reopening has also increased the movement of students, parents and school vans during peak hours.
Traffic Arrangements Around Schools
Traffic pressure was expected to rise around major schools and busy routes, particularly during morning and afternoon school hours. Traffic police deployed wardens at key locations to manage congestion and keep vehicles moving.
Authorities have advised parents and commuters to follow traffic rules and avoid unnecessary travel around schools during peak hours.
Schools Resume With Safety Measures
The Punjab government had announced the extended summer break amid severe heat and heatwave conditions. With institutions reopening, the Education Department has directed schools to ensure full attendance of teachers and staff.
Schools have also completed cleaning arrangements and measures aimed at reducing dengue risks before students returned to classrooms.
