ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif said the government of Pakistan is prepared to respond to any challenges arising from ongoing global tensions and is taking steps to maintain economic stability and public relief.

The prime minister made the remarks while chairing a review meeting in Islamabad to assess measures aimed at ensuring steady fuel supply and minimizing the economic impact of international developments.

Officials briefed the meeting on petroleum imports, fuel reserves and supply management across the country. The government said it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the availability of petroleum products.

Sharif said timely decisions by the government had helped maintain adequate fuel supplies and emphasized that economic stability and public relief remain the administration’s top priorities.

The prime minister also directed petroleum distribution companies to ensure fuel is sold at government-approved prices and to maintain transparency in distribution.

Officials told the meeting that a feature has been added to the government’s Pak App, allowing consumers to report fuel shortages or overcharging so authorities can respond quickly.

Participants of the meeting also appreciated the government’s decision last week not to further increase petroleum prices.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Ishaq Dar, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Attaullah Tarar and Shaza Fatima Khawaja along with senior government officials.
