Pakistan red-ball head coach and former Test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said Babar Azam was handed the team’s leadership again after consultation and mutual agreement.

Speaking to media at the Karachi Press Club, Sarfaraz said Pakistan would aim to perform well in the upcoming two-Test series against the West Indies. He added that the three-Test series against England would also be important, as both assignments are part of the ICC Test Championship.

Sarfaraz said the national training camp in Islamabad would focus on improving players’ skills and addressing weaknesses identified by the coaching staff.

He expressed hope that Pakistan would produce stronger results under Babar Azam’s captaincy, saying the team could benefit from greater unity, energy and commitment.

The former captain also commented on sports journalism, saying criticism should remain focused on performance rather than personal attacks on players.
