LOWER DIR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has finalized preparations for its grand march in Islamabad on September 20, while the party’s Central Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman is scheduled to address a sit-in in Timergara, Lower Dir, on September 13.
Haji Majeedullah Khan, Emir of the Jamaat-e-Islami Timergara Zone, made the announcement while addressing a press conference at the District Press Club in Timergara. He was accompanied by party leaders Haji Imtiaz Ahmed, Bakhtawar Syed Sadat, Niaz Ali Roghani and Dost Muhammad.
Majeedullah Khan welcomed Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s visit to Lower Dir, describing his scheduled address as an important occasion for party workers and the local public.
JI Criticizes Inflation and New Levies
Majeedullah Khan said people were already struggling under rising inflation and criticized the government for what he described as continued increases in taxes and other levies instead of providing economic relief.
He particularly rejected the additional levy on petroleum products, saying it would further increase the financial burden on ordinary citizens.
The JI leader also alleged that corruption and what he termed “anti-people policies” had created widespread public dissatisfaction. He said the growing public reaction should serve as a warning to the government.
Public Urged to Join September 13 Address
Party leaders said Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman’s September 13 visit and address would provide an opportunity for workers and residents of Lower Dir to express their concerns over inflation, petroleum levies and other government measures.
They urged the public to participate in large numbers and support the party’s protest campaign ahead of the September 20 march in Islamabad.
