PCB Clears Fatima Sana for The Hundred, Captain to Miss Sri Lanka T20I Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has granted national women’s team captain Fatima Sana permission to participate in The Hundred in England, meaning she will miss Pakistan’s upcoming T20 International series against Sri Lanka.

However, Fatima Sana will remain available for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, before departing for England to join Birmingham Phoenix.

Will Join Birmingham Phoenix After ODI Series

According to the PCB, Fatima Sana will travel directly from Hambantota to England after the conclusion of the ODI series on July 28.

She will then join Birmingham Phoenix for the remainder of The Hundred tournament.

First Pakistani Woman Selected for The Hundred

The 24-year-old became the first Pakistani woman cricketer to be selected by a franchise in The Hundred when she was picked by Birmingham Phoenix last month.

Fatima Sana also impressed at the recent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where she produced a strong all-round performance and claimed 11 wickets.

PCB Says Move Will Benefit Player and Team

The PCB said allowing Fatima Sana to participate in one of the world’s leading women’s T20 competitions will provide valuable experience at the highest level.

According to the board, exposure to elite franchise cricket is expected to support Fatima Sana’s development while also benefiting Pakistan’s women’s team in future international competitions.
