ABBOTTABAD: A group of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers and former office-bearers from Hazara Division have called on the party’s central leadership to address internal organizational issues, alleging that a planned convention of party workers in Abbottabad was prevented from taking place.

The demands were made during a press conference at the Abbottabad Press Club, where party activists expressed concerns regarding the party’s organizational structure and decision-making process in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Workers Raise Concerns Over Convention Cancellation

The participants said they had planned to organize a joint convention of PPP workers, youth members, and student representatives in Abbottabad.

According to the speakers, the purpose of the gathering was to discuss party affairs in Hazara Division and celebrate the party’s recent political achievements, including its performance in Gilgit-Baltistan.

They alleged that despite seeking permission from the administration, approval for the event was not granted. The participants claimed that certain party office-bearers were involved in efforts to prevent the convention from taking place.

Appeal to Party Leadership

The speakers urged PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and Faryal Talpur to review the concerns raised by party workers in the region.

They said the leadership should take steps to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and ensure greater engagement with long-serving workers.

Call for Strengthening Party Organization

Participants maintained that their objective was to strengthen the PPP and promote greater unity among party supporters.

They said many workers had dedicated years to the party and wanted organizational decisions to reflect the vision and principles associated with PPP founders and leadership.

Among those attending the press conference were former district president Abbottabad Sarfaraz Khan Jadoon, former provincial assembly candidate Nasir Hussain Awan, Tahir Khan Jadoon, Advocate Fakhar-ul-Islam Fakhar, Ajmal Khan Jadoon, Malik Fayyaz, Babar Khan, Sheikh Fayyaz, Saeed Gul, Qazi Chhima, Khaliqdad Khan, Ayaz Jadoon, Sardar Raza, Nazir Khan Swati, and Sheikh Babar.

Future Course of Action

Responding to questions from journalists, the speakers said they would continue to convey their concerns to the party’s top leadership through peaceful and democratic means.

They added that a future strategy would be discussed in connection with the upcoming visit of the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Abbottabad.

The allegations made during the press conference could not be independently verified, and no response from the party officials mentioned by the speakers was immediately available.
