RAWALPINDI, May 5 — The Pakistan Navy responded to a distress call from an offshore vessel in the Arabian Sea, providing assistance to a stranded ship carrying foreign crew members, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations.
The vessel, MV Gautam, was en route from Oman to India when it suffered a critical technical failure, leaving it unable to continue its journey. The crew included six Indian nationals and one Indonesian.
Rescue and assistance operation
Following an alert from the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai, Pakistan Navy dispatched PMSA Ship Kashmir to the vessel’s location. The ship provided food, medical support, and technical assistance to help restore essential systems and ensure the safety of those on board.
Officials said the response was carried out in line with international maritime safety protocols and obligations.

The operation highlights the navy’s role in responding to emergencies at sea and ensuring the safety of vessels operating in regional waters, regardless of nationality.
