PHF President Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani said the request was made in view of the current sensitive bilateral situation and security concerns between Pakistan and India. The federation said the proposed change is intended to provide a safe, dignified and conducive environment for Pakistan’s players and officials.
Wani said Pakistan remains committed to the Asian Champions Trophy and the development of international hockey. He added that Pakistan is prepared to compete against all member nations, including India, while maintaining the principle that sport should remain separate from politics.
The PHF said it hopes the AHF will consider its request positively and ensure Pakistan’s uninterrupted participation in the tournament.
The Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 is currently scheduled to take place in India from October 27 to November 5. The league-stage matches are scheduled for Jalandhar, while the semi-finals and final are set to be played in Mohali. The tournament features Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.
