LAHORE, November 2, 2026: Farmers using Fatima Fertilizer’s Sarsabz products secured all three provincial positions and 119 of 120 district-level positions in the Punjab Wheat Yield Competition 2025–26, highlighting the potential of improved crop nutrition and farming practices to increase wheat productivity.

The achievements were recognised at the Sarsabz Ki Jeet Wheat Yield Competition Prize Distribution Ceremony, attended by senior government officials, agricultural representatives and farmers.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain addressed the ceremony virtually, while Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Agriculture Secretary Shakeel Ahmad Mian and Pakistan Kissan Ittehad President Khalid Khokhar attended the event.

According to the competition results announced by the Punjab government, farmers using Sarsabz Nitrophos and Calcium Ammonium Nitrate (CAN) secured first position in 39 of the province’s 40 districts.

Sajjad Hussain from Muzaffargarh claimed the top provincial position with a wheat yield of 69 maunds and 39.4 kilograms per acre. Shafiq Ahmed from Attock secured second position with 69 maunds and 39.1 kilograms per acre, while Muhammad Asghar from Rahim Yar Khan finished third with 69 maunds and 24.1 kilograms per acre.

The three provincial winners received tractors, while district-level position holders were awarded Honda CD 70 motorcycles and LED televisions.

Congratulating the farmers and Fatima Fertilizer, Rana Tanveer Hussain said improving wheat yields was essential for strengthening national food security.

He said the federal government was committed to ensuring wheat procurement in coordination with provincial governments and was introducing initiatives to improve farmers’ access to quality seeds, modern agricultural technology and financing.

The minister also appreciated Fatima Fertilizer’s efforts to promote balanced fertiliser use and provide agricultural advisory services, stressing the importance of cooperation among the government, private sector, research institutions and farmers.

Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said farmers remained central to the country’s economy and food security, adding that the provincial government was pursuing policies to support agricultural productivity.

He said the announced wheat support price of Rs4,500 per maund, along with Rs150 billion in interest-free loans extended to one million farmers through the Kissan Card since October 15, would help growers obtain quality seeds and fertilisers in time for cultivation.

Fatima Fertilizer Director Marketing and Sales Rabel Sadozai said the latest competition results represented an improvement over the previous year, when Sarsabz users secured all three provincial positions and 97 of 120 district-level positions.

She attributed the performance to balanced crop nutrition, improved agricultural practices and technical guidance provided to farmers.

According to the company, leading Sarsabz farmers achieved wheat yields of approximately 69 to 70 maunds per acre, compared with an indicative national average of around 33 maunds per acre.

The company said the results demonstrated the potential to substantially increase wheat production through better crop management and informed fertiliser use.

Fatima Fertilizer also highlighted its agricultural advisory services and soil testing facilities, which help farmers assess soil nutrient requirements and make informed cultivation decisions.

Through its Sarsabz product range, including Nitrophos and CAN, the company said it would continue supporting farmers in improving crop productivity and strengthening agricultural sustainability.
