KARACHI, November 2, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended the first trading session of November with modest gains on Monday, as the benchmark KSE-100 Index rose 154 points despite mixed market sentiment, subdued trading activity and pressure on refinery stocks.
The KSE-100 Index closed at 166,564 points, while the benchmark fluctuated within a 1,404-point range during the session, reflecting volatility in trading.
Market sources attributed weakness in the refinery sector to the impact of government subsidy measures, which weighed on the performance of related stocks.
Despite the benchmark index finishing in positive territory, overall market activity remained subdued, with trading volume falling to nearly half of the previous session’s level.
A total of 440 million shares changed hands during the day, with the value of transactions reaching approximately Rs17 billion.
Meanwhile, the market’s total capitalisation declined by Rs95 billion to Rs18.293 trillion, indicating that the modest gain in the benchmark index was not reflected across the broader market.
The decline in market capitalisation, alongside reduced trading volumes, highlighted the mixed performance of equities during the opening session of November.
