November 02, 2026: New details about Apple’s upcoming iPhone Air 2 have emerged, suggesting the company is preparing an even thinner smartphone with a dual-camera system, a larger battery and a more powerful processor.
According to recent leaks, the second-generation iPhone Air could measure just 5.2mm thick, making it slimmer than the original iPhone Air, which featured a 5.6mm design. The device is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2027, potentially alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.
The reported specifications suggest Apple is working to improve the camera capabilities, battery life and overall performance of its ultra-thin smartphone without compromising its lightweight design.
One of the most significant changes could be the introduction of a dual-camera system on the rear.
While the original iPhone Air featured a single 48-megapixel camera, the iPhone Air 2 is reportedly being developed with two 48-megapixel sensors, including a main camera and an ultrawide lens.
The addition of an ultrawide camera would offer users greater flexibility when capturing landscapes, group photographs and wider scenes.
The upcoming smartphone is also expected to feature Apple’s A20-series chipset, replacing the A19 Pro processor used in the original iPhone Air.
According to the report, the same processor series is used in the iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple’s first foldable iPhone, referred to as the iPhone Duo.
Another major upgrade could involve battery capacity, an important consideration for smartphones with exceptionally thin designs.
The original iPhone Air came with a 3,149mAh battery, while earlier leaks suggested that its successor could feature a larger 3,500mAh battery.
Although the exact battery capacity has not been confirmed, the reported increase could help improve battery endurance despite the device’s slimmer profile.
The iPhone Air 2 is also expected to feature a 6.55-inch flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling, animations and visual performance.
The latest reports indicate that Apple may be aiming to address some of the limitations of the original iPhone Air while pushing the boundaries of smartphone design.
As for availability, the company has yet to announce an official launch date. However, reports suggest the iPhone Air 2 could be unveiled in March 2027.
The specifications, design changes and launch timeline remain based on unofficial leaks and could change before Apple’s formal announcement.
