The case registered over the November 26 protest against 10 accused persons, including Aleema Khan, sister of the PTI founder, has entered its final stage in the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi.
The prosecution closed its case after completing the presentation of evidence and witnesses. Defence counsel also completed the re-cross-examination of two prosecution witnesses.
The witnesses included the investigating officer and a deputy director of PEMRA.
A total of 18 witnesses have recorded their statements and completed cross-examination in the case.
Nine accused nominated in the case have received questionnaires under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Aleema Khan sought time from the court until June 16 to receive and respond to her Section 342 statement.
Defence counsel requested the court to allow the presentation of witnesses in support of the defence case. The court directed the defence to submit an application along with a list of witnesses.
Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared before the court along with his team, while Aleema Khan appeared with her lawyer Faisal Malik.
The hearing was conducted by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah.
