Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser to the Chief Minister on Population Welfare, Zakat and Ushr Malik Liaquat Ali Khan inaugurated a series of development projects at the District Press Club Timergara, including a solarization system, CCTV cameras, and renovation and beautification work. During the ceremony, he also announced a Rs1 million grant for the press club from his discretionary allocation.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Basharat Ahmad, journalists, and local officials. Speakers highlighted the role of the media in public awareness and discussed the need for further improvements to the press club’s facilities.
Press Club Seeks Additional Facilities
District Press Club Timergara President Haleem Asad said journalists continue to perform their professional responsibilities despite limited resources.
He thanked the provincial government for a previous grant of Rs5 million and requested additional support, including the construction of a conference hall, more space for the reporting section, computers, furniture, and funding to establish a digital studio.
Government Reaffirms Support for Journalism
Deputy Commissioner Basharat Ahmad described journalism as the fourth pillar of the state and said responsible reporting plays an important role in strengthening public awareness and improving communication between citizens and the administration.
Addressing the gathering, Malik Liaquat Ali Khan said positive journalism contributes to resolving public issues and reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to freedom of expression. He also pledged to continue supporting the development of the District Press Club Timergara.
Public Meeting Focuses on Law and Order in Rabat Dara
Separately, a public consultative meeting on law and order was held in Union Council Rabat Dara in Timergara to promote peace, security, and cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies.
The meeting was chaired by former provincial assembly candidate Shad Nawaz Khan and attended by local elders, community representatives, and police officials.
Participants discussed ways to strengthen public-police cooperation and agreed to support efforts aimed at preventing criminal and anti-social activities in the area.
Police Call for Continued Public Cooperation
Speaking at the meeting, Circle DSP Amjad Khan said the police remain committed to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and ensuring public safety.
He assured participants that all available resources would be utilized to maintain peace in the area. The meeting concluded with prayers for the country’s stability, regional security, and lasting peace.
