ISTANBUL: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) brought together Pakistani and Turkish business leaders at a Business Opportunity Conference in Istanbul, seeking to expand bilateral trade, investment, joint ventures and direct business-to-business partnerships.
The conference drew representatives from a range of sectors, with discussions focused on turning the longstanding Pakistan-Türkiye relationship into stronger commercial cooperation and identifying practical opportunities for businesses in both countries.
Pakistan’s Consul General in Istanbul, Khawaja Khurram Naeem, attended the conference and engaged with Turkish participants on Pakistan’s trade and investment prospects.
He responded to questions from Turkish business representatives and highlighted opportunities in Pakistan as well as the country’s business and investment environment.
Addressing the conference, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood presented an overview of investment and business opportunities in Pakistan.
He highlighted measures being taken by the government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with the Ministry of Commerce and other relevant ministries, to facilitate investors, promote exports and strengthen Pakistan’s links with international markets.
A number of Turkish companies participated in the conference and expressed interest in exploring investment and commercial opportunities in Pakistan.
During an interactive session, Sardar Tahir Mehmood, former ICCI presidents Aamir Waheed Sheikh and Mohammad Ejaz Abbasi, and Pakistan-Türkiye Investment & Development Council founder and president Dr Adeel Sami responded to questions from Turkish business leaders and discussed potential areas of cooperation.
The discussions focused on strengthening business-to-business linkages, investment collaboration, joint ventures, technology transfer, industrial cooperation and greater market access.
Business representatives from both countries stressed the need for sustained private-sector engagement to tap the potential of Pakistan-Türkiye economic relations.
Participants expressed optimism that the Istanbul interaction could translate into business deals and long-term commercial partnerships rather than remaining limited to discussions.
The conference forms part of ICCI’s international outreach efforts aimed at connecting Pakistani companies with overseas markets and attracting foreign investment to Pakistan.
Around 200 ICCI members are currently part of the Chamber’s delegation in Istanbul, reflecting the scale of its private-sector engagement with Türkiye.
The ICCI delegation is also scheduled to participate in an International Awards Ceremony in Istanbul, providing another platform for networking and engagement between Pakistani and Turkish business communities.
