Electric vehicles are becoming an increasingly practical option for Pakistani buyers as fuel costs rise and urban motorists look for alternatives to conventional petrol-powered cars.
The latest entrant is the BAIC ArcFox T1, a compact battery-electric vehicle being introduced by Sazgar Engineering, BAIC’s official partner in Pakistan. PakWheels’ Suneel Munj and Ali Hameed recently examined the new hatchback to see what it brings to the local EV market.
Compact Size, Strong Road Presence
Although the ArcFox T1 sits in the compact EV segment, it has a larger road footprint than familiar Pakistani hatchbacks and subcompact crossovers such as the Suzuki Swift and Kia Stonic.
At the front, the T1 features sharp crystal-style LED headlights, lower air curtains and a clean grille treatment.
Piano-black detailing appears around the lower bumper, side cladding and other exterior elements, giving the car a more premium appearance.
The alloy-wheel design follows the styling seen on newer midsize crossovers such as the Haval Jolion Max.
At the rear, the ArcFox T1 gets lava-style LED taillights, a sporty roof spoiler with an integrated high-mounted stop lamp and a panoramic glass roof designed to make the cabin feel more open.
The vehicle comes with an eight-year battery warranty and a six-year vehicle warranty.
Battery, Range and Performance
The ArcFox T1 is a fully electric Battery Electric Vehicle developed for urban use.
Sazgar plans to offer the model in two variants: a base version and a fully equipped top trim.
Both versions use the same electric motor, battery architecture and power output, with the main differences expected in ADAS features and comfort equipment.
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Vehicle Type | Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) |
| Battery Capacity | 42.4 kWh lithium-ion pack |
| CLTC Claimed Range | Up to 400 km per charge |
| WLTP Claimed Range | 310 km real-world estimate |
| Charging | AC slow charging and DC fast charging |
| Power Output Feature | Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) |
The V2L function allows the vehicle to power external appliances or camping equipment.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the ArcFox T1 offers a spacious cabin with an unconventional dashboard layout, redesigned air vents and a flat floor that eliminates the traditional transmission tunnel.
The driver gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, while a 15.6-inch central infotainment display handles most cabin controls.
The system includes Apple CarPlay and smartphone connectivity.
The front seats offer three-stage heating and ventilation.
The T1 also includes a full nap mode, allowing the front seats to fold completely flat and turn the interior into a bed-like resting space.
Physical dashboard buttons are largely replaced by touchscreen functions, while the steering wheel includes customizable shortcut controls.
The rear bench benefits from the flat floor layout and is designed to accommodate three adults with generous headroom and legroom.
Level 2 ADAS and Safety Features
The top-spec ArcFox T1 is equipped with a Level 2 driver-assistance package.
Features include Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with adjustable sensitivity and Hill Descent Control.
The vehicle also includes a 360-degree camera system, smart-key functions and app synchronization through CarBitLink.
Pakistan Launch, Pricing and Policy Status
The BAIC ArcFox T1 is ready for launch in Pakistan, but formal pricing and bookings are still awaiting final updates to the government’s EV policy draft.
The model is expected to enter the market initially as a Completely Built Unit.
CKD localisation could follow later, depending on long-term government industrial incentives.
The battery is expected to carry an eight-year warranty, while the vehicle itself is expected to come with a six-year warranty.
Instead of focusing on long-distance highway events, the ArcFox T1 is expected to be offered for public city test drives in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Multan.
