ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has expressed its commitment to supporting youth development initiatives aimed at strengthening leadership skills, institutional understanding and governance awareness among young Pakistanis.

Acting President ICCI Chaudhry Muhammad Irfan made the remarks during an interactive session with a delegation of Youth Parliament Pakistan (YPP), led by its Chairman Osama Nadeem Qureshi, at Chamber House.

Chaudhry Irfan said young people must be equipped with practical knowledge of governance systems, institutional procedures, communication skills and political leadership to enable them to contribute effectively to Pakistan’s socio-economic development.

He said youth could not play a meaningful role in national progress without understanding how public institutions function and learning the proper channels for engagement, communication and problem-solving.

The ICCI acting president appreciated the Youth Parliament initiative for promoting informed, confident and responsible future leaders and assured the chamber’s support for constructive youth-focused programmes.

Youth Parliament Focuses on Leadership and Governance Training

Chairman Youth Parliament Pakistan Osama Nadeem Qureshi said the organisation, a project of the Institute of Political Trainings Pakistan, is working to promote political awareness, leadership development and practical training among young people.

He said the initiative focuses on communication skills, departmental visits and political and leadership training to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical understanding of governance and institutions.

Qureshi stressed that young people need to understand the functioning of government departments, their procedures and the appropriate ways citizens can approach institutions.

ICCI Highlights Role of Business Community in Youth Development

ICCI Executive Member Muhammad Zulqurnain Abbasi said stronger interaction between youth organisations and business institutions could provide young people with valuable exposure to economic systems, entrepreneurship and Pakistan’s development process.

He said greater awareness of institutional mechanisms would help youth engage more confidently with public and private sector organisations.

The meeting also proposed organising an inauguration ceremony for a political training programme within the next three to four weeks, with participation from around 100 to 150 young people from across Pakistan.

A structured mechanism for quarterly awareness and practical training sessions for future Youth Parliament batches was also discussed to ensure continuity and long-term impact.

Future Collaboration Between ICCI and Youth Parliament

ICCI Executive Member Chaudhry Mohammad Waseem stressed the importance of practical capacity-building initiatives that enable young people to transform their education and ideas into meaningful contributions to society and the economy.

Chairman ICCI Standing Committee on ASEAN Chaudhry Muhammad Ali expressed hope that continued cooperation between ICCI and Youth Parliament Pakistan would help develop young leaders with stronger communication skills, institutional awareness and a deeper understanding of democratic and governance processes.

The session also included a question-and-answer segment where Youth Parliament members discussed governance, institutional procedures, leadership development and youth engagement.

ICCI leadership assured Youth Parliament Pakistan of continued cooperation in organising future training programmes, awareness sessions and institutional exposure opportunities.
