Pakistani actress Fatima Effendi has revealed that she experienced postpartum depression for six months following the birth of her daughter, Aznira Arsalan, and has now recovered from the difficult period.

The actress shared her experience in an Instagram post featuring herself, her husband Kanwar Arsalan and their daughter. In a heartfelt caption, she described the emotional challenges she faced after becoming a mother again and acknowledged her husband’s support throughout the period.

Fatima said she had spent the past six months dealing with severe postpartum depression, which led her to withdraw from social interactions and remain largely isolated.

Referring to her daughter, she described the newborn as a blessing from Allah that had brought light into her life. She added that her faith and her husband’s support helped her overcome the difficult experience.

The actress also spoke about how her understanding of religion and Allah had evolved. She said she had previously been taught to think of God as someone ready to punish her for not being a perfect Muslim, but later found comfort in understanding Allah through His attributes of love, kindness and mercy.

She wrote that Allah accepts people despite their shortcomings and encouraged others to treat people with kindness. She also requested prayers for her daughter.

Her husband, Kanwar Arsalan, responded through a separate social media post, describing Fatima as the most beautiful soul in his life.

He prayed for her happiness and well-being, assuring her that he would stand by her through every challenge and joyful moment. He also expressed his support for her decisions and said her happiness meant everything to him.

Fatima and Kanwar announced the birth of their daughter, Aznira Arsalan, on December 5, 2025. The couple also has two sons, Almir and Mahbir.

The two actors married on November 17, 2012.
