Govt Cuts Petroleum Levy on Petrol, Raises Levy on Diesel

The federal government has revised the petroleum levy on fuel products, reducing the levy on petrol while increasing it on high-speed diesel, according to a notification.

Under the latest petroleum levy adjustment, the levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.34 per litre, while the levy on diesel has been increased by Rs8.67 per litre.

The notification said the petroleum levy on petrol has been cut from Rs116.08 to Rs106.74 per litre. The levy on high-speed diesel has been increased from Rs44.59 to Rs53.26 per litre.

The government has also revised freight margins on both major fuels. The freight margin on petrol has been reduced by Rs4.45 per litre, while the freight margin on high-speed diesel has been cut by Rs2.01 per litre.

According to the notification, supplementary charges and duties on petrol have been increased by Rs9.30 per litre. For diesel, these charges have been reduced by Rs9.57 per litre.

The dealers’ margin on both petrol and high-speed diesel has been kept unchanged at Rs8.64 per litre.

The notification also kept the petroleum levy on kerosene oil unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre, while the levy on light diesel oil was set at Rs15.84 per litre.

The levy on high-octane fuel remains at Rs305.37 per litre, while the levy on furnace oil has been maintained at Rs77 per litre.
