Foreign Women Kidnapping, Rape Case: Court Extends Physical Remand Of Four Suspects

A Lahore court has extended the physical remand of four suspects, including Raza Dar, in a case involving the alleged kidnapping and rape of two foreign women in Lahore.

The suspects were produced before the Cantt Katchery after the expiry of their earlier remand. Police presented them in court with their faces covered.

During the hearing, the prosecution requested more time for investigation, telling the court that DNA and fingerprint tests of the suspects had been conducted.

The prosecutor said police still needed to recover the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, along with a laptop, cash and weapons.

A defence lawyer representing two suspects opposed the request for further physical remand. Advocate Salman Shahid argued that his clients had no connection with the alleged offences and claimed that, according to the police’s own version, the matter was linked to a cryptocurrency dispute rather than rape or kidnapping.

He further argued that the case falls within the jurisdiction of the Federal Investigation Agency.

After hearing the arguments, the court extended the physical remand of the suspects for five days and ordered police to produce them again on July 13.

Case Background

The alleged kidnapping of two foreign women from the Netherlands and Spain took place in Lahore on June 29.

Police have arrested eight people in connection with the case, including a relative of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

DIG Operations Lahore Faisal Kamran earlier said police were investigating the case on merit and that relatives of a prominent political figure were among those arrested.
