England secured their first-ever T20I series victory over India after defeating the visitors by nine wickets in the fourth match of the five-game series in Bristol. The convincing win gave England an unassailable 3-0 lead, with one match still to play.
After restricting India to 158/7, England comfortably chased down the target in just 13.5 overs, producing a commanding all-round performance that sealed the series.
India post 158 after electing to bat
India won the toss and chose to bat first but managed only 158 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
Captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 80 from 49 balls, while the rest of the batting line-up struggled to build partnerships. England bowlers Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue claimed two wickets each to restrict the scoring.
Salt and Brook power England to victory
England’s chase was led by opener Phil Salt and captain Harry Brook, who shared an unbeaten 146-run partnership after the early loss of a wicket.
Brook struck an unbeaten 79 off just 35 deliveries, while Salt finished on 59 not out from 42 balls. England reached the target with 37 balls to spare, underlining their dominance throughout the contest.
Brook was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance.
England eye series clean sweep
With the series already secured, England will now aim to complete a clean sweep when the fifth and final T20I is played on Saturday.
The victory marks England’s first T20I series triumph over India and highlights the hosts’ strong form heading into the conclusion of the series.
