ISLAMABAD, May 7: The DICE Forum launched the KITAB community library project and organised a tree plantation drive at the Sundas Foundation Thalassemia Centre in Islamabad on Wednesday, bringing together government officials, diplomats and civil society representatives to support education, environmental awareness and community welfare.
The initiative focused on improving access to books and learning resources for underprivileged children while promoting environmental sustainability at a time when Pakistan continues to face growing climate-related challenges.
Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik attended the event as chief guest alongside diplomats and community representatives, including Irena Gancheva and Rudolph Pierre Jordaan.
Speaking at the event, Barrister Aqeel Malik said education, environmental protection and social responsibility were essential for national development. He added that practical community initiatives could help build awareness and encourage responsible citizenship.
DICE Forum Chairperson Aliya Agha said the plantation campaign represented a commitment to environmental resilience, while the KITAB project aimed to promote reading habits and expand educational opportunities for children.
Ambassador Irena Gancheva highlighted the importance of education and environmental responsibility, saying access to books and knowledge remained important despite rapid advances in artificial intelligence and technology.
