CSSPR Marks One-Year Anniversary of Marka-e-Haq Through High-Level Strategic Webinar

LAHORE: The University of Lahore Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) held a high-level webinar to mark the first anniversary of the May 2025 conflict, focusing on its implications for regional security, deterrence and diplomacy in South Asia.

The webinar, titled “Deterrence to Diplomacy: Pakistan’s Strategic Repositioning,” brought together diplomats, defence analysts and strategic affairs experts to discuss military preparedness, emerging technologies and shifting regional dynamics following the conflict, referred to in Pakistan as Marka-e-Haq.

The session was moderated by Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Director of CSSPR, and featured speakers including Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Adil Sultan, Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Maria Sultan, Air Commodore (R) Khalid Banuri, Salma Malik and Sayed Ali Zia Jaffery.

Participants discussed the long-term strategic effects of the May 2025 conflict, including deterrence stability, conventional military readiness and the increasing role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, cyber capabilities and space systems in modern warfare.

Speakers also highlighted regional diplomatic developments and information warfare, stressing the importance of institutional capacity, technological advancement and economic resilience in sustaining long-term strategic stability.

According to CSSPR, panelists noted that evolving geopolitical dynamics in South Asia require continued focus on defence preparedness, responsible statecraft and regional engagement.

The discussion concluded with calls for stronger investment in technology, human capital and policy planning to address future security challenges in the region.
