LAHORE — The Central Business District Punjab (CBD Punjab) has accelerated work on two of its flagship projects, NSIT City and CBD Walk, following site inspections by Chief Executive Officer Imran Amin in January, officials said.
During visits on January 17 and January 24, Amin reviewed construction progress and planning standards at both sites, directing teams to maintain compliance with international benchmarks and long-term sustainability goals. The inspections come as Punjab advances a broader urban transformation agenda focused on infrastructure quality, environmental planning, and transparent project execution.
NSIT City: focus on public realm and mobility
At NSIT City, work is progressing on hardscaping, landscaping and internal road infrastructure. Officials briefed the CEO on ongoing asphalt development, pedestrian pathways and an integrated internal transport system designed to improve accessibility and reduce environmental impact.
According to project officials, expanded green areas and climate-responsive landscaping are being incorporated to balance density with livability. The development is planned as a technology and innovation hub aimed at supporting Punjab’s knowledge-based economy.
Amin told project teams that design decisions must prioritize structural integrity, usability and long-term resilience. He stressed that public spaces, mobility planning and environmental considerations should meet recognized global standards while addressing local urban needs.
CBD Walk: foundation phase completed
At CBD Walk, excavation and foundation work has been completed, with raft foundations laid for 32 units. Construction teams have moved to retaining wall shuttering and concrete pouring, marking the transition to the next stage of development.
Project engineers said raft foundations were selected to ensure load distribution and long-term structural stability, particularly in dense mixed-use settings. During the review, Amin underscored the importance of precision in foundational work, noting that structural reliability is central to sustainable urban construction.
The inspections were attended by Executive Director Technical Riaz Hussain, Director Architecture and Planning Sameer Aftab Sial, Director Construction Asif Babar, Director Project Management Asif Iqbal, Director Engineering Umar Hayat, and representatives from NESPAK.
Officials said both projects are being monitored under a multi-disciplinary oversight framework intended to ensure timely completion, adherence to approved designs and compliance with regulatory standards.
Across NSIT City and CBD Walk, CBD Punjab has placed emphasis on green space expansion, responsible material use and systematic monitoring. Authorities say the projects are part of a wider push to align Punjab’s urban development with internationally recognized planning and engineering practices.
