BEIJING: Chinese automaker BYD has introduced the updated Denza Z9GT, claiming a maximum driving range of 1,036 kilometres on a single charge under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC), placing it among the longest-range mass-produced battery electric vehicles announced to date.

The company said the new model reflects its push to extend battery performance in the premium electric vehicle segment, as global competition intensifies around range, efficiency and advanced driving systems.

The pure electric Denza Z9GT is offered with two battery pack options — 102.326 kWh and 122.496 kWh. Depending on configuration, CLTC-certified range figures are listed at 820 km, 860 km, 880 km, 1002 km and 1,036 km.

Powertrain options

The model will be available in both single-motor and tri-motor variants.

The single-motor version delivers up to 370 kW of output. The higher-performance tri-motor configuration includes a 230 kW front motor and two 310 kW rear motors, designed to enhance acceleration and dynamic handling.

In addition to the fully electric models, Denza confirmed a plug-in hybrid version equipped with a 63.82 kWh battery. Under the WLTC cycle, it offers a pure electric range of 301 km, while CLTC estimates exceed 400 km.

Design updates and technology

The updated Z9GT retains Denza’s “Stellar Crown” headlight design and sporty front styling. The LiDAR sensor module has been repositioned to the roof, and a blue intelligent driving status indicator light has been added.

The vehicle also introduces 21-inch low-rolling-resistance wheels and expanded exterior colour options, including Fjord Green and two additional new shades.

In terms of dimensions, the Z9GT measures 5,195 mm (5,180 mm variant) in length, 1,990 mm in width and up to 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.
