MOHMAND, April 24: Rubina Khalid visited the district office of the Benazir Income Support Programme in Mohmand to review operations and assess delivery of services to beneficiaries.
During the visit, she also inspected the Benazir Nashonuma Centre at a rural health facility in Yakaghund, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen support programmes for women and children in underserved areas.
Officials briefed the chairperson on field operations, while she met staff, reviewed performance, and issued instructions to improve service delivery for beneficiaries. She emphasised the need to ensure respectful treatment and efficient facilitation for people visiting BISP centres.
Focus on welfare programmes
Speaking to media representatives, Khalid said the programme reflects the vision of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto to support vulnerable segments of society, particularly women.
She noted that under the Benazir Kafalat Programme, more than 10 million women are receiving financial assistance. The Nashonuma Programme provides nutritional and health support to pregnant and breastfeeding women.
She added that the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Programme offers educational stipends to children from low-income families, from primary to higher secondary levels, to support continued schooling.
Expanding access in remote areas
Khalid said mobile registration vans are being deployed in remote regions to facilitate enrolment of eligible individuals who face difficulties accessing registration centres.
The visit was attended by district officials and BISP representatives, including officers from Peshawar, who briefed the chairperson on ongoing initiatives in the region.
Officials said the programme continues to expand its outreach to ensure assistance reaches deserving households, particularly in underserved and remote areas.
