RAHIM YAR KHAN, March 17: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan to inquire after women injured in the recent incident, as authorities confirmed financial assistance for affected families.

During the visit, Khalid reviewed the condition of the injured and directed hospital administration to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment. She said the injured women would receive free medical care, while families of those who died would be provided Rs1 million each and injured victims Rs300,000 each under BISP support measures.

The visit was attended by MPA Sardar Habib-ur-Rehman, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, and BISP officials.

Investigation underway, bank issued notice

Speaking to media, the BISP chairperson said a detailed investigation into the incident is in progress and strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.

She added that, as BISP payments are disbursed through partner banks, a notice has been issued to the concerned bank over alleged negligence and a penalty has also been imposed.

Visits to victims’ families

Later, Khalid visited the homes of women who lost their lives in the incident, including residents of Chak 123, Chak 125 and Chak 114, to offer condolences and express solidarity with their families.

She said the programme would continue to support affected households, including ensuring that educational stipends for their children remain uninterrupted.

Officials said the measures are part of broader efforts to provide relief and maintain continuity of support for vulnerable families impacted by the incident.
