LAHORE: Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has decided to step down as a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee, according to sources close to the former batter.
Sources said Misbah has informed the PCB about his notice period and will leave the selection committee after completing it. The reasons behind his decision and details about the formal submission of his resignation have not yet been disclosed.
Misbah’s Exit Comes Amid Changes in Pakistan Cricket
The development comes after major changes in Pakistan’s Test setup following consecutive defeats during the team’s tour of England.
The PCB has released seven players from the Test squad during the tour, including Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, Ali Usman, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
The board has also released head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul.
Imam-ul-Haq Returns to Pakistan
Opening batter Imam-ul-Haq has returned to Pakistan after missing the second Test because of an injury. According to the report, questions have been raised about the nature of his injury, and the PCB could conduct an inquiry.
Misbah’s decision to leave the selection committee adds to the uncertainty surrounding Pakistan cricket following the team’s difficult Test campaign in England.
