Balochistan Government, Protest Committee Reach Agreement After Successful Talks

The Balochistan government and the protest committee representing the families of the Ziarat victims have reached a written agreement following successful negotiations led by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, ending the ongoing standoff.

According to the agreement, both sides pledged to work together on implementing the demands of the victims’ families while taking joint measures to promote peace, stability and public confidence across the province.

Judicial Commission To Probe Ziarat Incident

Under the agreement, the provincial government will establish a judicial commission to investigate the Ziarat incident.

A joint meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti will also be convened with opposition parties and the families of the victims to discuss the province’s law and order situation and future security measures.

Support Package For Victims’ Families

The government agreed that the victims of the Ziarat incident would be officially recognized as martyrs under the existing policy.

Their families will receive financial compensation, educational support for children and other benefits in accordance with the provincial compensation policy.

The agreement also includes plans to name selected government buildings after the victims in recognition of their sacrifices.

Police Capacity And Revenue Concerns

The provincial government announced that it would strengthen the capacity, manpower and professional training of police forces in Balochistan’s urban areas.

To address public concerns over revenue-related issues, a committee headed by the provincial revenue minister will be formed, comprising government officials and local community representatives.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the government remains committed to supporting the families of the victims and paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, Police and other law enforcement agencies.
