PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has criticized a statement issued by PTI leader Junaid Akbar, warning that what he described as a “dictatorial attitude” within the party could further deepen internal disagreements.
According to an audio message shared in the PTI parliamentary WhatsApp group and confirmed by party spokesperson Fraz Mughal as being Gandapur’s, the former chief minister objected to the issuance of statements directed at party members holding differing views.
Gandapur said internal disagreements should be addressed through consultation rather than public warnings. He argued that similar statements had not been issued in the past against party members who had criticized previous provincial governments or raised allegations against cabinet members.
Referring to concerns expressed by some lawmakers, Gandapur advised party leadership to engage with dissatisfied members and address their reservations. He said a confrontational approach could worsen the situation within the party.
The PTI leader also questioned whether party members who had previously made allegations against him or the current chief minister had ever faced disciplinary action or formal notices.
Gandapur emphasized that PTI belongs to all its members and said lawmakers with differing opinions should not be treated as individuals lacking independent views.
The audio message surfaced amid ongoing discussions within PTI regarding party discipline and internal differences among elected representatives.
