Lahore High Court Orders Release of Man Allegedly Admitted to Rehab by Children Over Property Dispute

The Lahore High Court has ordered the release of a man who was allegedly admitted to a mental rehabilitation centre by his children during a dispute over valuable family property. The court issued the order after hearing arguments in a petition seeking his recovery.

The case highlights concerns over alleged misuse of mental health facilities in family property disputes. During the hearing, police from Shadman Police Station produced Nasir Khan Daulatana before the court, where the petitioner’s counsel argued that he had been wrongfully confined.

Property Sale at the Centre of Dispute

The petitioner’s lawyer told the court that Nasir Khan Daulatana owns valuable commercial land in Luddan, Vehari. According to the submissions, he signed an agreement on June 19, 2026, to sell eight acres of land for Rs280 million.

The lawyer alleged that following the property sale agreement, Daulatana’s four children—one son and three daughters—had him forcibly admitted to a mental rehabilitation centre on June 28, 2026, after declaring him mentally unfit.

The court was also informed that Daulatana had previously transferred ownership of 80 acres of land to his children.

Court Orders Recovery

The petition requested the court to order the release of a mentally sound individual who was allegedly being held at a rehabilitation centre without justification.

After hearing the arguments, Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court ordered the recovery and release of Nasir Khan Daulatana. The court’s order relates to his recovery from the rehabilitation facility and does not determine the underlying property dispute, which may be addressed through separate legal proceedings.
