KARACHI: Citizens in Karachi were deprived of 1,689 mobile phones and 2,793 motorcycles through theft and snatching incidents in June 2026, according to figures released by the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee.
The CPLC report said more than 4,500 crime incidents were reported across the city during the month, with street crime continuing to remain a major public safety challenge.
According to the data, 1,689 mobile phones were snatched in June, averaging more than 56 mobile phone snatching incidents per day.
The report said 2,419 motorcycles were stolen during the month, while 374 motorcycles were snatched at gunpoint. On average, more than 80 motorcycles were stolen daily in Karachi.
CPLC data also showed that 101 vehicles were stolen and eight were snatched in June, bringing the total number of stolen or snatched vehicles to 109.
The report said 40 murder cases were recorded in the city during the month. Nine extortion cases were also registered, while no kidnapping-for-ransom or bank robbery case was reported.
