A dangerous wanted criminal was killed in an exchange of fire between the police and absconders. According to reports, the CCD Police received a tip-off that wanted criminals were present in the Ashiyana Housing Scheme. Acting on this intelligence, the police conducted a raid. During the operation, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the CCD personnel.
According to the CCD spokesperson in Jhelum, after a fierce exchange of gunfire, one of the wanted criminals, Maqbool alias Toba, who belonged to the Khurd Chotala area under the jurisdiction of Chotala Police Station, was found injured. Police apprehended him in a wounded state; it was later revealed that he had been injured by the gunfire of his own accomplices. He succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward. It is reported that Maqbool alias Toba had long been wanted by the police in connection with serious cases of kidnapping for ransom and murder. Operations are ongoing to apprehend the other fugitives.
