SWABI: On the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Swabi Dr Tariqullah Khan, Tehsil Municipal Administration Razzar has completed the “Wall of Swabi” at Swabi Interchange Inbar, giving a new visual identity to the district’s culture, history and heritage.

The project was completed under the supervision of TMA Razzar and has been designed to highlight Swabi’s traditions, historic personalities, cultural symbols and development landmarks.

One of the most distinctive features of the wall is its backdrop, which is inspired by Swabi’s traditional shawl, “Chell.” The shawl has long been used by local women for purdah and is considered an important part of the district’s cultural identity.

The boxes on both sides of the main wall depict different aspects of Swabi’s civilization and culture, presenting a visual reflection of the area’s heritage for travelers passing through the interchange.

The main wall features portraits of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal, along with prominent sons and daughter of Swabi.

These include Sahibzada Sir Abdul Qayyum Khan, known as the “Sir Syed of the Frontier,” Nishan-e-Haider recipient Captain Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed, also known as “Sher-e-Swabi,” and Pakistan Army’s first female Lieutenant General (R) Dr Nigar Johar.

The wall also highlights Swabi’s history, culture and traditional hujra system. Tarbela Dam, described as the world’s largest earth-filled dam on the Indus River, SAIFTA Canal, University of Swabi and traditional farming scenes have also been included in the wall’s design.

Local residents appreciated the initiative, saying the project had not only beautified the interchange but also introduced travelers to Swabi’s identity, sacrifices and heritage.

District administration officials said the “Wall of Swabi” project is part of the vision for a “Beautiful and Dignified Swabi.”
