Swat police have arrested a brother, including his uncle, and cousin for murdering his sister and fabricating a story about her marriage to an Afghan national in Dandono Qala area of Swat district. Police officials confirmed,
Addressing a press conference, DSP City, Mingora Shahi Bakht Khan, along with SHO Rahimabad police station, Fazal Rahim Khan, said that on June 4, a woman named (B), wife of Saleem, resident of Dandoonoo Qala, lodged a complaint at Rahimabad Police Station stating that her daughter (N) was married to Obaidullah of Inzaro Tangay area in Manglawar, nearly nine years ago. The marriage, however, was troubled due to constant domestic disputes, and on January 21, 2025, the husband divorced her, keeping custody of their five-year-old son.

She said to police that, following the divorce, the victim was moved by her brother, Aleem Khan, to the home of their uncle Shah Mahmood, allegedly due to “shame” and societal pressure. Added that she resided there for four to five months and later, when the mother attempted to visit her daughter, she was informed by the brother that (N) had been married off to an Afghan man and had moved across the border. DSP Shahi Bakht khan said that, Suspecting foul play, police launched a formal investigation on the orders of District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Umar Khan adding tha during the investigation, the nominated suspects confessed to the crime and they revealed that they lured the victim under the pretense of marriage, took her to a private building in Dandoonoo Qala, and murdered her in the name of honour. Her body was buried in a local graveyard without any religious rites.

“The arrested suspects , the deceased’s brother Aleem Khan, uncle Shah Mahmood, and cousin Amjad Iqbal have been charged under Sections 302, 311, 201, 202, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Rahimabad Police Station,” Dsp Shahi Bakht further said. DSP Shahi Bakhth further revealed that the victim’s grave was identified on the suspects’ disclosure, and the vehicle used to transport the body, along with other evidence, had been recovered. He declared that Police also confirmed that further investigations are underway and assured the public that justice will be served to the victim and her family.
