England great Stuart Broad has questioned Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq’s conduct while dealing with an injury during the second Test against England at Lord’s, while former Australia batter David Warner also raised questions over the episode.
Imam suffered a calf problem while batting in the first Test and aggravated the injury while fielding on the opening day at Lord’s. Pakistan initially described the issue as a calf strain, before later confirming a Grade 1 tear.
Broad Questions Imam’s Actions
Before the fourth day’s play, Imam was seen wearing a bandage on his left calf and taking part in throwdowns on the field while walking cautiously.
Broad criticised the decision, suggesting that the batting practice could have been carried out indoors rather than on the field.
Former Pakistan selector Mohammad Wasim and others had also questioned the nature of Imam’s injury, while Australian commentator Jim Maxwell reacted critically to the incident.
David Warner Also Raises Questions
Former Australia opener David Warner also questioned Imam’s injury after seeing the Pakistan batter’s activities during the Test.
Imam did not bat in Pakistan’s second innings as the visitors went on to lose the Lord’s Test by 194 runs.
