MADRID: Spain will reopen its embassy in Tehran after it was shut in March due to regional tensions, Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has confirmed, signaling a renewed diplomatic presence following recent de-escalation in the Middle East.
The Spanish government said its ambassador will return to Tehran to resume official duties, reflecting Madrid’s intention to re-engage through diplomatic channels and support ongoing peace efforts in the region.

Albares noted that Spain aims to contribute to stability by maintaining dialogue and using available diplomatic avenues from within Iran’s capital. The move comes after a reduction in hostilities involving key regional actors, creating space for renewed diplomatic engagement.
