ISLAMABAD — Singapore has once again ranked as the world’s most powerful passport in the latest Henley Passport Index, while Pakistan is placed 98th, highlighting a wide gap in global travel access.
The index shows Singaporean citizens can travel visa-free to 192 destinations, the highest level of mobility worldwide. Pakistani passport holders, by comparison, have visa-free access to 31 countries, placing Pakistan among the lowest-ranked passports globally.
Pakistan Passport Remains Among World’s Weakest
Global leaders in passport strength
Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates share second place with access to 187 destinations. Norway and Switzerland follow closely, each offering entry to 185 countries without a prior visa.
European countries continue to dominate the rankings overall, with European Union nations averaging access to around 183 destinations.
Pakistan’s travel access
Despite its ranking, Pakistan maintains visa-free access to several countries, including Barbados, Dominica, Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Visa-on-arrival options are available for Pakistani travellers in countries such as Maldives, Qatar, Nepal, Rwanda, Cambodia, Madagascar, and Mozambique. Electronic travel authorisation systems are also in place for destinations like Kenya, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and Azerbaijan.
What the ranking reflects
The Henley Passport Index links passport strength to factors such as economic stability, diplomatic relations, and global mobility trends. Countries facing political or economic challenges typically rank lower due to stricter visa requirements.
Afghanistan ranks last on the index with access to 23 destinations, followed by Syria and Iraq.
Travellers are advised to check entry requirements before travel, including valid documentation, proof of funds, accommodation details, and any required health certifications.
