KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated 49 modern digital classrooms, 20 satellite schools and a sign language teacher training programme for special children across the province.
Speaking at an event organised by the Sindh Special Education Department, Murad Ali Shah said providing quality education to every child remains a government commitment. He said the new digital classrooms feature smart boards, e-learning tools and other modern educational facilities aimed at improving the learning experience of special children.
Digital Learning and Teacher Training
The chief minister said digital classrooms would help special children participate more confidently in the modern digital world. He added that technology and infrastructure alone were not sufficient and that trained professionals were essential for making effective use of these facilities.
The sign language teacher training programme has been launched in collaboration with Deaf Reach and FESF. According to the chief minister, the programme will strengthen the professional skills of teachers working with children who have hearing impairments.
Nearly 20,000 Students in 67 Institutions
Murad Ali Shah said the Sindh government remained committed to the education, welfare and rehabilitation of special children. Around 20,000 students are currently enrolled in 67 special education institutions across the province.
Students at these institutions receive free education along with rehabilitation, physiotherapy and speech therapy services. The government also provides free transport and nutritious meals, while enrolled students receive a monthly stipend of Rs3,000.
