Pakistan has launched a sub-national polio vaccination campaign in selected districts, with health teams set to administer polio drops to around 31 million children across the country.
More than 273,000 polio workers are participating in the campaign, which is targeting children under five in 115 districts. The campaign aims to reach children in areas identified for additional vaccination coverage.
Provincial Coverage
In Punjab, vaccination teams will cover 10.6 million children across 13 selected districts, while 10 million children in 30 selected districts of Sindh are expected to receive polio drops.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will target approximately 7.3 million children across 37 selected districts. In Balochistan, teams will vaccinate around 2.3 million children in 32 selected districts, including 447,000 children in areas specifically identified for the campaign.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, vaccination teams will cover around 137,000 children across two selected districts.
Parents Urged to Support Vaccination Teams
Health authorities have urged parents and caregivers to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that every child under five receives polio drops during the campaign.
Polio workers are conducting door-to-door visits as part of the effort to reach children and maintain vaccination coverage in targeted areas.
