UPPER DIR: The 43rd meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal (SBBU) was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sardar Khan, with the board approving several measures aimed at strengthening higher education and research.

The meeting was attended by ASRB members Dr. Muhammad Asif Nawaz, Dr. Mian Shah Bacha, Dr. Irfanullah, Dr. Allah Ditta, Dr. Sajad Ali, Dr. Haya Hussain and Dr. Abrar Hussain.

The board approved 20 research proposals submitted by MPhil and PhD scholars from various university departments.

Monthly Research Meetings Ordered

With the unanimous approval of board members, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sardar Khan directed that meetings of the Graduate Study Committee (GSC) and ASRB be held regularly every month.

He also instructed that meeting minutes be circulated within one week, saying the measure would help prevent unnecessary delays, reduce the wastage of students’ time and financial resources, and improve transparency and efficiency in academic affairs.

The meeting also approved relevant policies of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

MPhil, PhD Theses to Go Digital

In another significant decision, the board approved the abolition of hard copies of MPhil and PhD theses for external evaluation.

Under the new arrangement, electronic copies of theses will be sent to external examiners for assessment. The university said the move would reduce paper consumption and ease the financial burden of printing multiple thesis copies on research scholars.

The digital process is also expected to help students complete their research work more efficiently.

Quality Education and Research a Priority

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sardar Khan said providing quality education, ensuring timely access to facilities and promoting research remain the university’s top priorities.

“Our mission is to enlighten society with the lamp of knowledge, and we are determined to make SBBU Sheringal a distinguished center of higher education and research,” he said.
