TECHNOLOGY: Samsung has announced plans to discontinue two of its augmented reality (AR) applications, AR Doodle and Quick Measure, with both apps set to become unavailable for download from the Galaxy Store after December 31, 2026.
The company has notified users of the change through updated changelogs for the two apps on the Galaxy Store. Samsung has also already stopped supporting or offering the applications on some newer devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
What will happen to the two apps?
AR Doodle allows users to create virtual drawings through their smartphone cameras. The drawings can remain attached to faces or other objects in the camera view, while compatible phones also support drawing with an S Pen or stylus.
Quick Measure uses the phone’s camera to provide approximate measurements of objects, walls and distances, offering users a way to estimate dimensions without dedicated measuring equipment.
Samsung says the two apps will no longer be available on new devices after December 31, 2026, and they will not be supported by future operating system versions.
The change is expected to become more noticeable as Samsung moves toward newer software releases, including the stable version of One UI 9.
Existing users may continue using the apps
Users who already have AR Doodle or Quick Measure installed on their devices may still be able to use them after the shutdown date, provided their device software continues to support the applications.
The move reflects Samsung’s ongoing shift toward newer software features and services as it updates its Galaxy device ecosystem.
