ISLAMABAD: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme, Rubina Khalid, paid rich tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his death anniversary, highlighting his enduring vision of a dignified, self-reliant, and welfare-oriented Pakistan.
In her message, she said that Allama Iqbal, widely regarded as the Thinker of Pakistan and Poet of the East, envisioned a sovereign nation built on justice, equality, and self-respect. “Iqbal’s concept of Pakistan reflects a welfare state grounded in fairness and social justice,” she stated.
Rubina Khalid emphasized that Iqbal’s philosophy continues to guide the nation’s collective struggle and ideological direction. She noted that his ideas played a pivotal role in awakening political consciousness among Muslims of the subcontinent, ultimately leading to the demand for a separate homeland.
“Iqbal’s message revolves around selfhood, action, and unity—principles that remain vital for national development today,” she said, adding that his vision laid the foundation for a strong, prosperous, and respected Pakistan.
The BISP chairperson stressed the need to transform Pakistan into a true welfare state by following Iqbal’s teachings in both policy and practice. She further highlighted that his philosophy continues to inspire youth, offering hope, resilience, and a roadmap for self-reliance in challenging times.
Calling Iqbal a visionary of the Muslim community, she said his message encourages awakening, empowerment, and independence—values essential for progress in the modern era.
Rubina Khalid urged the nation, particularly young people, to draw guidance from Iqbal’s philosophy to build a united, progressive, and economically stable Pakistan.
