The Rawalpindi food department says wheat flour is available in sufficient quantities across all tehsils of the district at officially notified prices, with daily inspections underway to ensure an uninterrupted supply for consumers.
District Food Controller (DFC) Azhar Abbas said monitoring teams are regularly visiting flour depots and markets to check availability, enforce official pricing, and oversee the distribution system. The department said the measures are aimed at maintaining a steady supply and preventing disruptions.
Official Flour Prices
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Abbas said a 10kg flour bag is being supplied to tandoor owners for Rs950, while the same bag is available to consumers in the open market at the official price of Rs1,100.
He said the department is closely monitoring the supply chain to ensure flour remains available at government-notified rates throughout the district.
Daily Inspections Across Rawalpindi
According to the district food controller, inspection teams conduct daily visits to flour depots and retail markets to verify stock levels, ensure compliance with official price lists, and monitor distribution.
“We are closely monitoring the distribution system to ensure that consumers receive flour at the notified rates without any interruption,” Abbas said.
Action Against Hoarding and Profiteering
Abbas said providing quality flour at affordable prices remains a key priority for the department.
He added that action against hoarding and profiteering will continue in line with the Punjab government’s directives to protect consumers and maintain price stability across Rawalpindi district.
