ISLAMABAD, September 13: The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and UN Women Pakistan have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding leadership, employment and participation opportunities for young women across Pakistan.
The agreement, signed at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday, will focus on gender-responsive youth development, employability, entrepreneurship, civic participation and safer digital engagement for young women and girls.
The MoU was signed during a meeting chaired by PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan. The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary PMYP Dr Muhammad Ali Malik, UN Women Pakistan Country Representative Jamshed Kazi, Deputy Country Representative Fahmida Iqbal Khan and senior officials from both organisations.
Under the partnership, PMYP and UN Women Pakistan will work together through technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and joint initiatives to strengthen women’s leadership, youth empowerment and gender equality.
Focus on Jobs, Leadership and Entrepreneurship
The collaboration will seek to integrate gender considerations into youth-focused programmes and policies, particularly those related to leadership, employment, entrepreneurship and civic participation.
The two organisations also plan to create more opportunities for young women through mentorship, networking, leadership development and professional exposure.
These initiatives are intended to support wider national efforts to improve youth participation and gender equality in Pakistan.
Safe Digital Participation for Young Women
The agreement also places emphasis on digital inclusion and online safety.
PMYP and UN Women Pakistan will support initiatives focused on digital literacy, responsible online engagement and digital citizenship, with particular attention to young women and girls.
The partnership is aimed at creating a more supportive environment in which young women can build skills, take on leadership roles and participate more actively in Pakistan’s economic, social and civic life.
