ISLAMABAD: Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) awarded Chinese Ambassador Scholarships to 47 students during a ceremony held at the School of Politics and International Relations under Phase III of the scholarship programme aimed at strengthening educational cooperation between Pakistan and China.
The Chinese Ambassador Scholarship initiative reflects growing academic collaboration between the two countries as Pakistan and China mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. University officials and representatives from the Chinese Embassy attended the event held at the Islamabad campus.
Mr. Chen Peng, Cultural Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan, and QAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal distributed scholarships among the selected students.
Addressing the ceremony, Chen Peng said Pakistan-China relations had remained strong despite changing global circumstances and encouraged students to play a positive role in further strengthening bilateral ties.
He also invited students to explore additional educational opportunities under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program.

QAU highlights Pakistan-China academic cooperation
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal described the event as an important milestone for the university and highlighted the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and China since 1949.
He noted that many QAU graduates were pursuing academic and professional opportunities in China and said the scholarship programme reflected expanding educational cooperation between the two countries.
The vice chancellor encouraged scholarship recipients to view the award as recognition of academic excellence and professional achievement.
He also acknowledged the efforts of faculty members in maintaining educational standards that support international academic partnerships and collaborations.
Scholarship programme expands across departments
Earlier, Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Mirza, Director of the School of Politics and International Relations, said the scholarship programme had expanded significantly since its launch in the 2023-24 academic session.
He said the initiative initially started within the School of Politics and International Relations but now includes students from multiple departments across Quaid-i-Azam University.
According to university officials, the expansion reflects increasing academic engagement between Pakistani institutions and Chinese educational initiatives.
