A tourist from Punjab died after falling into a ravine while hiking near Andrab Lake in Kalam Valley, Swat, officials confirmed on Thursday. The incident occurred during a visit to the popular tourist destination, where the victim was reportedly taking photographs with friends.
According to authorities, the deceased was identified as Abdul Wajid, 27, son of Abdul Latif and a resident of Bahawalpur. Initial findings indicate that the death was the result of an accidental fall.
Tourist Slipped While Taking Photograph
Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA) spokesperson Saeed Ur Rehman confirmed the incident, while SHO Kalam Omer Ali said Abdul Wajid had travelled to Andrab Lake with a group of friends for a hiking trip.
Police said he was standing on a rock to take a photograph when he reportedly slipped and fell into a deep ravine, suffering fatal head injuries.
Body Shifted To Hospital
Local residents recovered the body and transported it to Kalam Hospital.
Officials said legal formalities are being completed before the body is handed over to the victim’s family.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, though preliminary findings suggest it was an accidental fall during the hike.
