KARACHI, October 24: Preliminary investigations by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have revealed that a group arrested in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar area was allegedly involved in producing and distributing pornographic animated videos for the past two and a half years.
According to NCCIA sources, 42 people, reportedly including minors, were detained during a raid on three offices in Rabia City, Gulistan-e-Johar, on October 23. Investigators suspect the group used businesses operating under the names of graphic design and animation services to produce explicit digital content for overseas clients.
Sources said the investigation was continuing, with authorities examining electronic devices and online accounts allegedly linked to the operation.
Three offices allegedly used for animation business
According to investigators, the suspected network had been operating in Karachi for approximately two and a half years.
The alleged ringleader, identified by sources as Fida, reportedly managed three offices where graphic design, banner creation, logo development and art animation services were offered.
Investigators suspect that the offices were also being used to produce pornographic animated material for clients outside Pakistan.
Sources said many of those detained were educated young people. The reported presence of minors among the detainees has also emerged as part of the investigation, although their ages and individual roles have not been disclosed.
Hundreds of explicit animated videos reportedly recovered
NCCIA sources said investigators recovered hundreds of allegedly pornographic animated videos from mobile phones seized during the operation.
The digital material is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation into the group’s activities and its alleged connections with overseas customers.
Investigators also suspect that members of the network created social media accounts using female identities to contact international clients.
According to sources, the suspects allegedly used Instagram and X, formerly Twitter, to establish contact with people abroad and receive requests for customised animated content.
The group reportedly produced videos according to the requirements of overseas clients and delivered the material through online channels.
Investigation continues into suspected network
The NCCIA is continuing its investigation into the alleged operation, including the activities of the three offices, the seized digital material and the suspected use of social media platforms to communicate with foreign clients.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of all those detained, the specific charges being pursued or whether any additional suspects have been identified.
The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the involvement of individual detainees has not been established by a court.
