DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified thieves allegedly stole copper coils from two 200 kVA electricity transformers in separate localities of Dera Ismail Khan, raising concerns among residents over the security of power infrastructure and possible disruptions to electricity supply.

The transformer thefts were reported in Bilal Abad, Mariali, and Fazal Rahim Colony near Bab-e-Dera, both falling within the jurisdiction of Cantt Police Station. Residents have demanded action against those responsible and the early restoration of the damaged equipment.

According to local accounts, the suspects carried out the thefts late at night, removing copper coils from the transformers before fleeing.

The stolen components are essential to the operation of electricity transformers, and their removal has left residents concerned about the availability of power in the affected neighbourhoods.

Residents said the incidents had highlighted the need for stronger security measures to protect electricity infrastructure from theft and damage.

They appealed to DSP City Circle Hafiz Muhammad Adnan to take immediate steps to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the incidents.

The residents also urged the relevant electricity authorities to arrange repairs and reinstall the damaged transformer components as soon as possible.

They stressed that delays in restoring the transformers could create difficulties for households and businesses dependent on a reliable electricity supply.

Local residents called for coordinated action by police and electricity officials to prevent similar incidents and restore normal power supply to the affected areas.

No arrests or recovery of the stolen copper coils were reported in the information available.
