Punjab Ministers Rana Sikandar Hayat and Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar on Friday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) victory in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections reflects public confidence in the Punjab government’s performance under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing a joint press conference at the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR), the two ministers said voters in Azad Kashmir had supported development, public service and governance over what they described as the politics of negativity.

Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the election outcome demonstrated public appreciation for initiatives launched by the Punjab government, including electric buses, the Khelta Punjab programme, Danish Schools, Schools of Eminence, Suthra Punjab, Apna Ghar Apni Chhat, and the Honhaar Scholarship Programme.

He said Punjab has emerged as a national model in education, healthcare, sports, development and public service, adding that the province is expanding merit scholarships, laptop distribution and quality educational facilities.

Sports and Energy Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said every department of the Punjab government is delivering measurable results under the chief minister’s leadership.

He announced that the CM Punjab Youth Games 2026 will be the largest sporting event in the province’s history, featuring the participation of five million young athletes, competitions spread over 57 days, and Rs500 million in prize money for outstanding performers.

Khokhar also said the Punjab government plans to attempt a Guinness World Record through sports activities involving five million youth during October and November. Students from schools, colleges, universities, seminaries and special education institutions are expected to participate.

He added that the government is reviving playgrounds across educational institutions, investing in modern sports infrastructure, including the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sports City, and expanding renewable energy projects such as biogas, solar energy, canal-based hydropower, waste-to-energy plants and electric bus services.

Both ministers said the Punjab government remains focused on governance, transparency and public service, expressing confidence that continued investment in youth, education, sports and sustainable development would contribute to Pakistan’s overall progress.
